Overview

The Senior Executive Institute (SEI) and Leading, Educating, and Developing (LEAD), housed in the Weldon Cooper Center’s Virginia Institute of Government, build the capacity of local government executives and public leaders in an intense program of courses that develop the skills necessary for effective, high performing, and inclusive local governance.

The Certification program provides career development and certification opportunities for Treasurers and Commissioners in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Through the Wallerstein Scholars Program, students have the opportunity to work in local government and gain hands-on experience in public service work.
